Hello Spoonies and Happy Valentine’s Day…
Well, late 2018 and early 2019 have not been so friendly for me, as I got esophageal ulcers in November and hip bursitis and worsening of a preexisting labral tear in January (the labrum is a cartilage-like thingie in the hip). I also still have my always-fun tendinitis, I haven’t been able to take my Lyme herbals since getting the ulcers, and I’ve had an ongoing extremely dysfunctional family drama since the summer. I knew I was not going to be able to come up with a new Valentine’s Day concept (sad, because I love my illness-themed holiday posts), but I did expand upon last year’s idea (I think this was a worthy effort, given the excess medical wretchedness). 🙄
So here is Part Two—I hope you like my new spoonified Valentine cheesiness…
Here are the ones from Part One, in case you weren’t following me last year.
Also, I have been playing around with water-based markers— they have no smell! Yay!! It’s great to find real art supplies I can tolerate. Usually I have to stick to digital art because I can’t handle the nasty, toxic smell of regular markers.
Recently there was this annoying Ten-Year-Challenge thingie on Facebook and Instagram, in which people showed photos of themselves labeled “2009” and “2019,” after which all their followers would say, “Oh my goodness, you haven’t aged AT ALL!” Awww, shucks. 🙄
I first got sick around 2009, so my idea of the “ten-year-challenge” is er, different. These sketches are a spoonie parody I made with the water-based markers.
Hope those were relatable! 😀 Anyway, in my next few posts I will have a new cartoon series and more Spoonie Artist Guest Posts by artists with different invisible illnesses who use their art to raise awareness. Please check out my first from Alexandra Baker, a cartoonist and graphic designer with ME/CFS. Also here’s my extremely silly Lyme Sexy Tyme Valentine’s Day post from a few years back (please check it out if you want to know what “Lymedoms” are). 😜
Wishing everyone a low-symptoms day and night and of course Happy Valentine’ Day! 💚💜❤️
