Hi Spoonies!
Yes, it’s that time of year again.
I was never a big fan of Valentine’s Day, and it’s even more challenging as a spoonie. Flowers? Allergic. Chocolate? You’re dreaming. Overpriced dinner for two with food I can’t have? Nah. Jewelry? Nickel allergy. Perfume? Yes, perfect gift for someone with chemical sensitivities … just shoot me now.
I do enjoy writing spoonie-specific posts about Valentine’s Day. Last year I did “Lyme Sexy Tyme: Valentine’s Day Special” and this year I decided to go a little more, uh, G-rated. And so, here are some spoonified Valentines.
Do you have any ideas for more lines? Please let me know in the comments. I wish everyone a non-depressing and low-symptoms Valentine’s Day! 💚💜💙💛 (Wow, that’s a lot of awareness hearts.)
Also, I wanted to thank Claire from Pain Pals Blog for nominating me for a Mystery Blogger Award. I will do all my nominations in one of my next posts. 🌹🌸
I also wanted to add two medical updates: 1) I had a positive test for ANA, which I thought shouldn’t happen after several years of Lyme treatment. I didn’t have the specific lupus antibodies, just high ANA, but the test said I had lupus anyway. If this has happened to anyone else, I would love to hear your thoughts. My doctor thinks it’s the just the Lyme creating immune-system havoc. 2) I have an appointment in May with a well-known mast-cell specialist to see if I actually have mast-cell disease. (Guessing that’s going to be a yes.)
Painless hugs and unscented flowers,
Vicki
Those Valentines are great!
The last time I was able to have my blood tested (early 2010ish), they wrote that my ANA levels should be monitored, but I haven’t had access to anyone who could monitor them, so who knows where they are at now.
Apparently it’s not uncommon for women with health problems… but that comment wasn’t elaborated upon…

Ugh, it’s annoying! I don’t really know what to make of ANA. I’ve been reading and the info is all over the place. All the info on diagnosing lupus is fairly vague too, considering it is an ailment accepted by the Western medical community (unusual for me).
