The Fibro Monster

Well, I’ve been blogging for a month, and I finally learned how to check my stats. The most popular search was an image search for “Fibro Monster,” the category I use to write about my fibromyalgia. I started to imagine the way a Fibro Monster might look. (Update 2017: At the time I didn’t know I should’ve called this the Lyme monster. Yes, I was one of the many with a false fibro diagnosis.)

Before I got carpal tunnel, cubital tunnel, and other repetitive strain injuries, I used to enjoy playing around with Adobe Illustrator. Those days are over, but happily I’ve discovered iPad Sketchbook Pro: The touch screen makes it easy on the hands, you can add text using the voice software in the iPad, and you draw with your finger rather than a mouse or keyboard (which makes things a little sloppy, but it beats getting another hand operation).

Anyway, here’s a Fibro Monster (complete with symptom list!):

Hi! I'm Vicki. My blog is called "Miss Diagnoses" because I have too many diagnoses and because my Lyme disease was misdiagnosed for many years. In addition to being a professional patient, I'm a compulsive reader and doodler. Sadly, my writing and drawing are limited by repetitive strain injury and neuropathy. I use assistive technology, but I can't post as often as I'd like. You can also find me on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, and I have two short cartoon videos on YouTube. 1. Just add swollen, painful kidneys and subtract the joints out of alignment and it’s the monster that’s been following me around for the last decade. 🙂 Great drawing!
